2021! A JET event snapshot
2021 has been like no other year in so many ways for JET, not least because we marked our ten-year anniversary. It was such an important milestone in JET’s journey so far that we forged ahead with our events programme, despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic.
Our CEO, Emma, kickstarted the year with the first of her epic JET10 challenges – an ultramarathon along the Grantham Canal in which she ran a gruelling 33 miles. Since then she has continued to run, swim, hike, paddleboard and cave her way around the country to help us reach our 10th-anniversary fundraising target of £100,000. With just one event left to go, you can help us reach our target by donating here.
The year also saw us launch our JET10 Virtual Relay. Over the weekend of 10–11 July, 50 teams of competitors joined the fundraising challenge from as far afield as Ascension Island, Australia and the USA. Watch this space for the JET10 challenge 2022!
Other events included JETRide, where cyclists rode between 50 and 100 miles around Lincolnshire’s countryside and we also welcomed the return of our Annual Dinner which this year was held at RAF Coningsby.
Rounding up the year was the brilliant Space Forum at the Wellcome Collection in London. This event brought together space industry leaders and government officials to help shape a collaborative approach to tackling youth inequality in the UK. Take a watch of our video.
Our huge thanks go to everyone who has supported us throughout this difficult year; whether you’ve run, paddled or cycled, or have organised your own event to fundraise on our behalf, your efforts really do make a difference to the young people we support.
