JET was excited and honoured to be nominated for The Sun Military Awards this year. This is JET’s first ‘Millie’ nomination and our first national awards nomination.

The ‘Millies’ are held annually to honour members of the British armed forces and civilians involved with the forces. JET was nominated in the ‘Support to the Armed Forces’ category which recognises a civilian, a civil servant, a contractor or just an ordinary member of the public, who has provided invaluable help to the Armed Forces.

JET CEO, Dr Emma Egging went along with JET student ambassador Nathan and JET Volunteer Flt Lt Sasha Nash to London on Wednesday 13th December. The day started with a trip to 10 Downing Street for a Reception before attending the Awards Ceremony that evening.

The awards were created by The Prince of Wales and organised each year by The Sun newspaper. Nominees are selected by the general public and a select panel of ten judges, made up of national figures and military chiefs, choose the winners.

JET is fortunate enough to be able to work with many inspirational military bases and individuals throughout the year and it was wonderful to be a part of an evening celebrating and honouring members of the British Armed Forces and civilians involved with them.

JET has grown from working with just 10 Lincoln students in 2012 to supporting more than 7000 students across 28 schools in England and Wales in the last academic year. Therefore, we were ecstatic to be nominated and recognised on the national stage.
