I am an experienced youth and community professional and have been working in the field of community development, youth work and service user involvement for over 12 years.
I started working for the Jon Egging Trust as a Youth Liaison Officer (JETLO) for our Yorkshire based Blue skies programme but have recently moved to the position of Volunteer and Participation Development Manager. I will be primarily working alongside the Youth Programmes team to develop and train volunteers who work with young people and I aim to increase the voice and participation of young people within JET. I am also keen to support the whole organisation with our volunteer processes, support and core training not just youth programmes volunteers.
In 2009 I attained my professional qualification in youth and community development achieving a 2:1 BA Hons degree at Bedfordshire University. I worked for Bedfordshire County Council/Central Bedfordshire Local Authority as a Senior Youth Worker, this provided me with a platform to develop my skills and understanding of the role of youth work, strategies, policies, procedures and the benefits for communities, organisations and individuals at both operational and strategic levels. I have led on key youth work and participation programmes such as young inspectors, youth commissioner, youth auditors and supported Central Bedfordshire youth parliament and members of the UK Youth Parliament.
