I have worked in the young person’s support sector, both in charitable and local authority services since 2003. I have experience of direct work and managing services across a wide range of providers including faith organisations, prisons, schools, further education providers, social care and community services. I have latterly focused on managing services that supported the young people furthest away from the education and employment market, whom had largely been involved in or affected by criminal activities.
Taking on the Area Director role for the North combines my interests in developing supportive youth programmes and delivering services alongside educational institutions. The real boon to this role for me is having the additional privilege of working alongside so many capable and eager service personnel and business leaders. As a young person I was an Air Cadet and thoroughly benefitted from the input I received from the RAF. I have great memories of annual camp at Anglesey each year and remain firm friends with people from all walks of life who I met through these opportunities. I believe the Jon Egging Trust offers equally engaging opportunities for young people, who may not have otherwise had the chance or impetus to get involved in such prospects. It is for this reason I truly believe the Trust can be life changing and am excited to be part of that.
Each individual at the Jon Egging Trust has a real sense of momentum and the zeal for delivery is palpable. I hope to be bringing the fantastic opportunities available through the Trust to Lossiemouth in the very near future and supporting the Welsh and Yorkshire JET teams to reach more young people. While I am looking forward to the stunning scenery the drive between these locations will offer, I sense the possibilities the JET fundraising team have in the long distance running arena will be offsetting my miles in the car. Whatever the mode of travel the JET team is looking forward to reaching more young people and partners across the North.
