Throughout my time working with young people as a Teaching Assistant and trained Counsellor I have become increasingly troubled by the challenges young people face and the effects of life experiences on self-esteem. I have always been so keen to support young people to recognise and reach their full potential through enhancing confidence and I feel so passionately that young people can thrive even in the face of adversity, given the correct nurture and support. After learning what the Jon Egging Trust enables young people to achieve through their focus on teamwork, leadership and employability I thought “I have to be a part of this!”
Previously I have worked in a psychiatric hospital as a Nursing Assistant and in Alternative Provisions as a Mentor, Teaching Assistant and Careers Information, Advice and Guidance Teacher. I then worked with the school as the Literacy and Numeracy Interventions Lead to establish and roll out a secure literacy development plan across the school. I absolutely loved leading on the literacy project and I am so excited to begin this new journey as the Norfolk Regional Youth Programmes Manager.
It’s my responsibility to manage the Blue Skies Programmes and Inspirational Outreach package in Norfolk. I plan to develop the level 3 Employability on the Blue Skies programme by widening our connections with other organisations and industries so that even more young people can benefit from it and be inspired and equipped to begin successful, engaging careers post-16.
