I am delighted to be joining a dedicated and like-minded team at JET, who are all focussed on allowing young people the opportunity to reach their potential. My role in North Lincolnshire will be to provide our Blue Skies Inspire Packages to local schools, as well as facilitate some of our Inspirational Outreach programmes. Having volunteered with JET I have witnessed that finding another way to engage children that are not engaging as well in mainstream education, and providing them opportunities to surprise themselves with their ability and growth, has major impact on their mindset and their resilience. I relish the opportunity to be a small part of that, and look forward to watching young people shine.
My degree is in Psychology and I have always been interested in what motivates people and drives them forward. I joined the military after uni and witnessed first-hand the necessity of support and encouragement in the development of people of all ages and stages. After having a family of my own I now appreciate that young people need opportunities to push themselves in order to gain confidence, and encouragement to step out of their comfort zone in order to grow.
In my previous positions I have trained as a counsellor and a mediator, and used those skills within a homeless charity to support families and prevent youth homelessness. Working with young people is tremendously rewarding and a privilege that I am delighted to be able to continue.
