I joined JET in 2020 as the Trust and Grants Officer and I’m enjoying being part of a friendly, dedicated team where everyone is passionate about making a positive difference to young peoples’ lives. It’s my role to research grant funding opportunities and write compelling bids to funders, to encourage them to fund JET’s excellent work in providing opportunities for young people to achieve their full potential.
I’ve worked in the voluntary sector for the past ten years, supporting a variety of organisations with funding and community development and in that time I’ve raised over £2 million pounds worth of funding through the successful bids I’ve created. I also write on a freelance basis for the Yorkshire Post and some national magazines. Writing is certainly a passion of mine, so creating bids that demonstrate the impact that JET’s programmes have on young peoples’ lives is certainly rewarding work.
I live on a remote farm in North Yorkshire, so when I’m not working I’m busy running around after my family of rescue animals. I volunteer for The Racehorse Sanctuary and my local dog rescue, which has led to us being known locally as ‘Last Chance Farm.’ Whether its animals or young people, I firmly believe that all deserve the same opportunities to thrive and live their best lives, which is why I am happy to be working for JET, as this is the ethos the charity is driven by.
