Spring 2022 update from Emma

I cannot write about the first quarter of 2022 without first reflecting on wider global events. As a youth charity, we are deeply troubled by the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the children and young adults whose lives and futures are being irreparably damaged by the atrocities of war. Our thoughts are with them all, and other young people across the world who are caught up in war and conflict.

Here at JET, it’s been a very busy few months. Following our JET Space Forum in London last November, we’ve worked hard to continue to engage with the UK’s burgeoning space sector to open doors and opportunities for our students. As a charity, we harness the power and inspiration of STEM to help springboard our students towards brighter futures. For over a decade, we’ve worked in partnership with the RAF and aviation sector to offer our long-term Blue Skies students access to one-off inspirational events and workplaces. We hope that by spreading our net still wider, and welcoming some fantastic space partners into the JET family, we are creating and even stronger bedrock from which our young people can grow. For all our latest news, in space, aviation and beyond, please follow us on our social channels.

We are not always all about STEM though, as you’ll see from Chloe’s brilliant account in our Spring 2022 newsletter of one of her recent Blue Skies outreach days in Norfolk. We often include outward bound days into our syllabuses to build on the teamwork and leadership skills we teach; where better to conquer fears and overcome doubts than in the great outdoors?

If you are receiving this newsletter, it’s because you are part of our JET family, and I’d like to thank you for your continued support. If you haven’t already done so, please consider signing up to one of our 2022 events, playing our JET Lottery, or committing to regular giving. Together, we can do more.

With best wishes,

Emma
