JET are delighted that the Southampton University Air Squadron (SUAS) have chosen to support us as their charity of the year and we are extremely grateful to the squadron for committing to support the trust throughout 2018.

JET has a long standing history and close bond with SUAS as Jon Egging and our CEO, Dr Emma Egging, were both members of SUAS whilst studying at Southampton University and it is where they met.

JET benefits greatly from the squadron’s support: they volunteer with our Blue Skies programmes in Dorset and volunteer with JET at the Bournemouth Air Festival each year, helping to inspire our students and to raise further funds.

“SUAS are great with Blue Skies programmes. They come along and help out on Blue Skies days at the various venues with the activities we put on for our young people. They integrate really well with the Blue Skies students in a friendly manner, encouraging them when things may be a bit tough. They help the Blue Skies students with their portfolios and are genuinely supportive as they get involved with activities. SUAS students also bring some great activities with them which are good icebreakers and put the young people at ease. They’re great role models for our young people.” – Kaye Jackson, JETLO, Dorset.

Getting to know you. SUAS Students help out with our new Blue Skies 1 group at Glenmoor & Winton Academy

6 SUAS students have signed up and have been training hard to take part in the Isle of Wight Challenge, which will see them join 2000 adventurers in May, walking, jogging and running the 106km Isle of Wight coastal path. Three of the students are completing the full 106km distance, two are taking on the 53km half challenge and 1 individual is tackling the quarter distance challenge.

This is an incredible physical challenge and you can help the SUAS students to raises vital funds for JET to enable more young people to be the best they can be by sponsoring them and leaving words of encouragement.
