As Charity of the Year for The Lincolnshire Showground we were delighted to be able to offer some of our students from Barnes Wallis Academy the opportunity to attend The Lincolnshire Show 2018.
Eighteen students and four staff members were provided with tickets thanks to this partnership. JET was given a perfect pitch in ‘The Aviation Zone’ next to The RAF100 Baton stand and replica Red Arrow. Our students drew in the support of visitors to the show and nearby host stands as they showcased the team building and communication activities that they take part in as part of our Blue Skies programme and/or Outreach sessions.
Our Jon Egging Trust stand allowed attending JET staff and students to share the work of the Trust and how we are “helping young people to achieve.”
The young people were also given full access to the show; instilling our trust in them to develop their confidence and independence further, whilst opening up and exploring opportunities within the wider community. This emulates aspects of our work which looks to inspire young people to be the best they can be. The Lincolnshire show 2018 did just that with its inspirational aircraft, simulators, agricultural machinery, livestock, discovery experiences such as laser shooting and schools activities as well as exceptional floral, cake and art displays and an exposure to an array of business services and food. This meant that our students developed a fantastic curiosity and ‘buzz’ for the opportunities that surround them beyond school and home.
“Thanks for a fab day. Kids are buzzing!” Accompanying staff member
The visit not only inspired our students but also placed some of them outside of their comfort zones and helped empower them to embrace the opportunity.
“We hope that both the Jon Egging Trust and the Barnes Wallis students had a great time and found the visit beneficial.” Sarah Carter, Business Development Manager, Lincolnshire Showground
