Dorset

Dorset and its surrounding areas are important to the Jon Egging Trust, not least because of the wealth of support we have received since Jon’s death in 2011.
From the fabulous welcome we receive from the local community each year at the Bournemouth Air Festival, to those who take time to reflect at Jon’s memorial on the East Cliff, the people of Dorset continue to hold JET and our mission close to their hearts, and we are incredibly grateful for this.

JET’s programmes were first established in Dorset in 2013. Since then, we’ve run Blue Skies programmes across the region including in Bournemouth and Ferndown and, more recently, in the Purbecks. Typically, we will support three separate cohorts of 15 Blue Skies students in each school in which we work, progressing students through three years of our programmes (1st year: Teamwork, 2nd year: Leadership and 3rd year: Employability). In addition, we also reach out to over 1,000 students across the county each year through our Inspirational Outreach programme.

Our programmes in Dorset are made possible by our local fundraisers and donors, and our dedicated regional partners including NATS, Draken, Bournemouth University, MOD Boscombe Down, Jimmy’s Iced Coffee and Wessex Archaeology. Our partners help to fund our programmes and also give students an insight into the world of work, enterprise and business in their local area, inspiring their aspirations and belief for when they leave school or higher education.
