Each topic relates to a separate chapter of the Teamwork Matters video above (for ease, the individual video chapters have also been linked).

Leadership

This chapter focusses on leadership opportunities for Key Stage 2 students as they prepare to transition to secondary school. The accompanying resources allow students to test their leadership skills, while the video follows ‘Red 1’, leader of the Red Arrows, as he explores the concepts of teamwork and leadership and how to guide others effectively.

Preparation

Being prepared is key to dealing with change and transition effectively. In this session we explore how to prepare for transition to senior school. By using the Preparation chapter of the main Teamwork Matters video as the foundation for wider discussion, you can apply the principles covered by the Red Arrows’ team leader to the challenges students will face in transition, and build activities around these.

Personal Identity

Starting a new school can be a worrying time for students who might experience self-doubt or have concerns about making new friends. Key to dealing with such challenges is knowing ourselves and our identity. Here, we use the Personal Identity chapter of the main Teamwork Matters video as a basis for further class discussion.

Communication

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, or so they say. In the Communication chapter of the Teamwork Matters video, the Red Arrows team look at the myriad of different methods of communication and explore what it takes to become a top communicator!

Flexibility

Building on the sessions on Personal Identity and Communication, in this film students look at the importance of being flexible, being able to adapt to changing situations and creative in finding solutions, as well as owning our mistakes.

“The video is excellent! It covers everything you’d want mentioned and emphasises then recaps all key points – so brilliant. Engaging and informative! We did the ‘Jet Pack’ activity which got lots of discussion too.”
