Who we support
The Jon Egging Trust offers long-term support to young people who are struggling to engage at school and may have lost focus, confidence and self-belief.Our students
We work in partnership with a trusted network of schools across our nine active regions. Our schools have a strong understanding of our programmes and the students who would most benefit from joining Blue Skies.
Our programmes are tailored to young people with high potential but who may be limited by factors outside their control, including young people who are:
- Lacking in confidence / self-belief
- Eligible for Free School Meals
- Young carers
- Living in care
- Experienced ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
Key facts
Many of the young people we support face barriers to learning which can range from significant life challenges, to lacking in confidence or missing out on good role models. Mainstream education isn’t always tailored to addressing the underlying issues that can create obstacles to progression.
- It costs just £1,350 a year to support one young person through each year of JET’s flagship three-year Blue Skies programme.
- Over a lifetime, the cost of an individual falling out of education and becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training) is estimated to be £97,000 – £370,000.

Become a JET school
We work closely with key schools in each of our operational regions. We focus on areas of multiple deprivation and work collaboratively with teachers to identify students most in need of JET support.
Programme impact
We continuously monitor the effectiveness of our programmes in supporting young people to build confidence, aspiration and workplace skills in order that they’re inspired to reengage with education and fulfil their potential.
