Our September Campaign: How Can You Lighten The Load?

Throughout September, we’ve explored what it means for young people to carry more than a backpack. We’ve highlighed the hidden challenges many face, particularly when going back to school and sharing Lacee’s story of how support, encouragement and opportunity helped her build confidence and believe in her future.

Every JET programme, workplace opportunity and moment of growth is made possible by a community of supporters who believe every young person deserves the chance to thrive. No young person should have to carry everything alone, so this week, we’re highlighting some of the ways you can help lighten their load.

Fundraising for JET is more important than ever. As demand for support continues, the funds we raise help us reach more young people and provide the consistent, long-term opportunities that can make such a difference to their confidence, resilience and aspirations. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue creating those moments that allow a young person to see new possibilities for themselves and their future.

By fundraising, donating or giving regularly, you’re not simply supporting a programme, you’re helping a young person realise what they’re capable of.

Challenge Yourself

Looking for a way to make a real difference while achieving something extraordinary yourself? Taking part in a challenge event is one of the most rewarding ways to support the Jon Egging Trust.

Whether you’re an experienced runner, keen cyclist, enthusiastic walker or simply looking to step outside your comfort zone, there is a challenge for everyone.

From half marathons and 10Ks to cycling events, hikes and endurance challenges, every mile completed and every pound raised helps ensure more young people can access life-changing opportunities through JET.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our supporters, challenge event participants have already raised over £14,000 in 2026. Help us continue to grow this fundraising success by signing up for a challenge event in 2027 and making an even bigger impact.

Fundraise Your Way

Fundraising doesn’t have to involve running a marathon. Some of the most impactful fundraising comes from people bringing their communities together. Host a coffee morning, organise a bake sale, arrange a quiz night or take on a sponsored walk with friends; you could even bring your workplace together for a fundraising challenge.

As part of our More Than a Backpack campaign, we’re encouraging supporters, schools and workplaces to get involved and create their own fundraising activities throughout the year.

Every pound raised helps create more opportunities for young people like Lacee; and recently, one of our JET Youth Ambassadors raised £1,000 simply by hosting a bake sale for JET.

For a simple way to support young people year-round, why not join the JET Lottery and help change lives every month?

Not only will you be in with the chance of winning a staggering £25,000 every Friday. You will also be helping more young people like Lacee access the support they need to build aspiration, confidence, resilience and brighter futures.

Donate to create opportunities – Whether you choose to make a one-off donation or become a regular giver, your support helps provide Blue Skies programmes for young people across the UK. Regular gifts, no matter the size, help us plan ahead and continue delivering support where it’s needed most. Even the cost of a weekly coffee can help create opportunities that transform futures.

Volunteer With JET; Time can be just as valuable as money. Our volunteers help deliver programmes, inspire young people and support events across the UK. Just a few hours of your time can make a real difference. By sharing your skills, experience and enthusiasm, you can help young people build confidence, raise aspirations and discover new possibilities for their future. In the academic year 25-26, we worked with over 800 partner volunteers giving over 4,000 hours of their time.

Be Part of the Story

Lacee’s story is just one example of what’s possible when young people are given the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

Whether you donate, take on a challenge event, fundraise in your community, join the JET Lottery or volunteer your time, your support helps more young people build confidence, resilience and brighter futures.

Lighten the Load. Change a Life.
