Inspiring Future Engineers with Bremont

8 April 2019 | News

JET are pleased to announce a new partnership with Bremont, an award-winning British luxury watch brand, manufacturing mechanical watches in Henley-on-Thames, England.

“JET is a charity founded on similar principles and values to that of our own here at Bremont with a strong aviation link. Giles and I lost our father in a tragic plane crash similar to that of Jon’s and it was our main inspiration to set up the brand in 2002. It is great to be able to support and be a part of the fantastic work that the charity is doing and we are honoured to be able to tell our story with the hopes of inspiring a younger generation to overcome adversity, think differently and achieve great things in their futures ahead.” – Nick English, Bremont Co-founder

Bremont will be involved in JET’s Blue Skies 3 programme in Oxfordshire, which focuses on employability skills and work experience. Students in Oxfordshire, will have the opportunity to see first-hand the dedicated teamwork required to run a luxury watch brand, from the raw manufacturing and delicate assembly through to the marketing and selling of the finished products. The partnership will also allow the young people to have an insight into potential job opportunities available locally to them, within Bremont.

“Bremont and the Jon Egging Trust are founded upon a shared ethos of ‘inspiration and achievement through adversity’; this relates directly to the support we provide young people across the UK. We are delighted to launch this exciting new partnership, which will provide inspirational opportunities for young people to learn about: precision engineering, innovation, excellence and what it takes to create an iconic British brand. With partnerships like these, we can ensure that young people facing challenges, are given the opportunity to gain the motivation and life-skills they need to thrive.“ – Dr Emma Egging, Jon Egging Trust CEO

The inaugural session with Bremont, was held recently, with students trying their hand at laser engraving, to assembling watches.

“Our challenge has always been, how can we make and manufacture our watches in the UK effectively. The only way we can do that is technology and highly trained staff. There’s such a small selection of people thinking engineering could be a career, and I think the best engineers I’ve seen have been the ones who started from grass roots and worked all the way through. If we can sprinkle some inspiration on these kids then we’ve done a little bit.” – Giles English, Bremont Co-founder

JET are looking forward to working with Bremont, to continue inspiring young people through engineering.
