Blue Skies Inspiration day at MOD Boscombe Down

On Thursday 2nd March, Blue Skies students from Ferndown Upper School had an Inspiration Day at MoD Boscombe Down.

Rob De Silva and Dickie Henderson of Dark Blu Inc, who normally offer team building sessions to corporate clients,  delivered a session on leadership skills. The young people then had to problem solve how to balance 16 nails onto just one other. Without giving the secret away, this was achieved by working as a team and listening to each other. Each young person acted as the leader at some point so that they all were able to have a go. Later in the day the students visited the Qinetiq hangar and went aboard an aircraft.

Rob De Silva said “Why should only big company executives have access to the exercises we deliver to develop them both as leaders but also followers? Given these tools at an early age, the students we had before us will not only find their own path in using these tools but will have many years to experiment before actually implementing these skills into the work place. We wish that more organisations had the vision that JET has by investing early and not waiting until someone is a manager and has worked for many years before being given the fundamentals to work effectively with teams.”
