Inspirational Mentors lead assemblies at two Bournemouth schools

This week two Bournemouth schools have benefited from inspirational assemblies thanks to Jon Egging Trust volunteers.

400 Year 7 & 8 pupils from Ferndown Middle School enjoyed an Inspirational Assembly given by the Director of Flying at Cobham, (based at Bournemouth Airport). An ex-Red Arrows pilot and former Team leader (Red 1), the speaker showed some thrilling footage of the Red Arrows and the young people were keen to hear about his career journey. He told them that hard work and determination will help you achieve your dreams and be the best that you can be.

After his talk students commented – “I will be more positive when approaching tasks”, “I now feel more confident that I can now accomplish my dream because the assembly was very inspirational”, ”I went to my first lesson feeling happy and inspired”, “It will make me push myself in lessons”

Later in the week 600 pupils at Lytchett Minster School heard from an operational air traffic controller at London’s Heathrow Airport. The pupils were given an insight into the workings of Heathrow and what it takes to become a controller as well as some top tips about how to overcome adversity with determination.

They also heard about engineering from an engineer who trained with the RAF and who now works for Cobham, They learnt about his desire to be an engineer from a young age and that even though he was was not good at maths at school he had to pursue the study of the subject in order to achieve his goal.

Thank you to our Inspirational Mentors!
