It’s all about geese

It's all about geese

You might now be wondering why is it all about geese? Geese are a prime example of teamwork and supporting each other, which was the theme for two Inspirational Outreach activities delivered at St Mary’s CofE Middle School, Puddletown on 2nd November.

We met a new cohort of Year 8 students who we will work with until next summer. It was great that they started to understand how important teamwork is and they very soon put the theory into practice as they threaded components onto a rope using JET’s new MTa learning kits. After evaluating the activity, they enjoyed another task of making the tallest stack and working together.

“We are here to get better at communicating so we can work as a team.”

Our second activity was to give an assembly to Year 7 & 8, Keystage 3 students. We talked about how geese work better as a team and achieve more, how they support and take strength from one another and the trust that they have in each other. We looked at some film about the Red Arrows and how they work together, trusting each other which the students understood as they answered the questions that we asked them after the assembly.

Reflecting after the session, students said:

“The Jon Egging Trust inspires people and helps lift their self-esteem.”

“Jon Egging achieved what he wanted to do, that’s why he’s inspiring.”

Matt Tubb, KS3 Teaching and Learning Leader said:

“We were fortunate to have Kaye and Allie come in to our school to run some workshops and give a presentation to our Key Stage 3 students. The assembly was very well constructed, with the link between geese, the Red Arrows and how our students can work together being delivered perfectly for the message to have an impact. I too will always remember the importance of ‘quality honking’…”
