ITSB host JET student Dean on level 3 work placement

Dean has been a student on our Blue Skies programme for three years. He has enjoyed each level and has reached the end of Level 3 by doing a work placement with IT Support Business (ITSB) in Westbourne.

Jordan Dawson at ITSB said “Coming through the Apprenticeship route myself, I understand the importance of 1 to 1 time. Dean has listened to everything I have discussed and shown an interest in the IT industry. As soon as Dean came into the office he was set right to work on installing updates/software on a new machine that was to be sent to site. We have a company check list to make sure nothing is missed and all was ticked! We have also discussed plenty of IT related issues -as we support dozens of customers, each set up is different. Dean has been exposed to Active Directory / Backups / Servers and general software such as Sage/Office. I believe Dean has thoroughly enjoyed his time at ITSB as there wasn’t a time we weren’t talking tech. Our policy with work experience is to show the person around all sections of our business, Dean also started an audit of hardware we have in the office (which is a task we’ve been needing to do for a LONG time!!). This has assisted the business long term and has made a real impact. I wish all the best for Dean in the future and believe he can flourish in the IT industry.”

Kaye Jackson, our Dorset Liaison Officer visited Dean at ITSB and found him shadowing Jordan on some customer care service calls. Rob Jelley, Business Development Manager presented Dean with his Level 3 certificate and thanked him for the work he has done this week.

Speaking about his week with ITSB, Dean said “I have enjoyed building a computer, it was a great experience on how to install a machine from scratch. It’s been good having assistance from people around the office in all areas (technicians/purchasing/marketing). For experience, I have learnt how certain programs work, mostly focusing on backup software such as Windows Server Backup.”

We would like to thank ITSB and Rob Jelley for the time and help that they have given our Level 3 students.
