Learning to lead the way at Bournemouth University

On Thursday 8th June our Level 2 Blue Skies students from Glenmoor and Winton Academies had an excellent session on Learning to Lead at Bournemouth University. Ian Jones who is Head of Regional Community Partnerships at the Office of the Vice Chancellor challenged the students on how proactive they are at taking a leading role in their own lives. Through a tour of the University the Blue skies students were able to learn about how the students have led the way on the design of their own buildings, setting up community based projects and solving problems that they and their community faced.

Students also learned about the importance of communication, presentation and research in ensuring they are a success in interviews and job placements. There was much food for thought and opportunities to really think about what their strengths and weaknesses were and how to tackle filling in the gaps to ensure they stand out from the crowd. This session was certainly an exercise for the mind in terms of how to take the lead in one’s own life. Thanks to Ian and Bournemouth University for an excellent visit.
