Pupils hear how to turn failure into success

Des Day is the Managing Director of Supply Shack, a social enterprise and an award-winning supplier of business products and services in Bournemouth. Des is a keen volunteer for the Jon Egging Trust and on 7th March he kindly gave an assembly at Ferndown Middle School as part of our Inspirational Outreach programme about how it is OK to fail, it’s how you deal with it that is important. His message was very strong – don’t give up! The whole school was in attendance, about 600 young people from years 5 to 8. The school’s headteacher Mrs Allen said “”It’s not a bad thing for the young people to hear about failure and how to make things a success”. Kemand, aged 12 said how inspiring the assembly was and that he wouldn’t throw in the towel so easily in future.

The assembly was part of the school’s Jon Egging week where inspiration and fundraising were key. A Red Arrows teddy bear was raffled at the end of the week.
