Let’s celebrate!

Let’s celebrate!

A massive well done to the students at Canolfan Addysg Y Bont who have been on a fantastic journey with JET over the past few months as part of the Armed Forces Covenant “Gallwn / Yes we can” project.

Everyone has worked hard but at the same time had so much fun and the celebration assembly was a perfect way to finish.

Peers, parents and partners who had worked with the students were invited to the assembly so that the students could share exactly what they have been doing including their best bits on a picture presentation.

“We were very lucky to work with the RAF. They gave up their time to work with us and gave us a great opportunity.” – Lucy, 15

All of the students stood up and delivered their speech, which is a fantastic achievement.

All the students received a certificate of achievement and portfolio of their work, which were handed out but Bonny Greenhalgh, North Wales Regional Manager for JET, and Flt Lieutenant Helena Bottrill who had delivered and supported many of the sessions.

“They helped us in the Jon Egging Trust. They were so kind and nice to us.” – Emily, 14

After the assembly, the students took on different roles in the school café and served teas, coffee and homemade cakes and biscuit’s for their family. It really was the perfect way to end a very worthwhile Inspirational Outreach Programme.

“The pupils have developed their knowledge and understanding of the RAF and have taken a keen interest in the different roles of various RAF personnel based at RAF Valley. During the sessions the pupils developed close relationships with the personnel. They looked forward to seeing them at each session. Before working with the Jon Egging Trust RAF Valley was just a place however now they have a genuine interest, knowledge and empathy of the work that goes on there. Working with JET and RAF valley has been very enjoyable. We are very lucky to have had the opportunity. Everyone has been kind, understanding and accommodating. Thank you.” – Sian Jones, Class teacher
