Blue skies Yorkshire Students shine at graduation event!

On Thursday 25 June, 27 students from York High school aged 12 to 15 successfully graduated from our Blue skies level 1 and 2 programmes, with an excellent presentation to family, friends, and partners from the Royal Air Force and our Patron Professor Brian Cox.

The students demonstrated that they were able to overcome their nerves to give a clear and confident presentation sharing some of the fantastic experiences they had on the Blue skies programme, giving the audience a snap shot of their journey and a detailed account of their individual achievements and the new skills they had learnt.

Professor Brian Cox presented the students with their certificates and told them they can achieve whatever they set their minds to.

The programme took place over 10 sessions at RAF bases Linton-on-Ouse, RAF Fylingdales, RAF Leeming and RAF Leconfield and have been designed to inspire and build confidence and self- esteem. Level 1 students have been focusing on developing their team work skills and level 2 leadership.

Our level 1 students said;

Blue Skies has definitely helped me become more confident in class, I am much more likely to put my hand up to answer questions and on Blue Skies I have been encouraging my team mates more so that they take part more when they are nervous

Since blue skies and meeting Brian Cox I know that I can achieve anything I want to

Blue skies has helped me to believe in myself and be more confident, no matter how nervous I was

The students ended their presentation by telling us about their experience of the programme…… Kalan said his experience was mind-blowing!

Alli Guiton JETLO York region said We are extremely proud of all the students and their individual achievement, we are extremely grateful to everyone who supported the students in particular to our partners in the Royal Air Force.
