I’m Alana, the Youth Liaison Officer for Wiltshire. New to the role, I joined the team in January 2023. I am relishing the challenge of my role and I look forward to working with young people and local partners, to deliver Blue Skies Inspire sessions.
I am extremely passionate about providing help and support to young people, having previously been employed within the education sector for over ten years prior to joining JET. I did, however, take a year out and enjoyed working in a role within the postal service.
I have gained a degree in Psychology as well as a Teaching and Learning degree which I enjoyed immensely. I discovered through studying and truly believe, that everyone is different. People develop, learn, have new interests and ideas at different stages within their life. The programmes that I will deliver, will help all individuals develop leadership, teamwork and confidence, regardless of what level they feel that they are at.
Helping young people to gain confidence and have a voice within society is something that I am passionate about. My aim is to inspire and encourage individuals to flourish into successful and happy young people, with the skills required to transition into adult life.
My spare time is spent enjoying many varied interests. From socialising with friends and family, listening to music and audio books, to tending to my garden with its never-ending list of tasks. I have recently taken up painting using watercolors. I live with my husband, who is a current serving member in the British Army, and I am a proud mum of two teenage children. I also have a new family member, Boris the kitten, who certainly keeps me entertained.
Looking forward to the year ahead, I am so enthusiastic about bringing positive change to young people’s lives and working alongside my fellow JET team members.
