It was a huge privilege to join JET in February 2021 and I’m inspired by the dedication and drive of the team, and the impact that their vision and determination has on the young people we support. Fighting to improve the life-chances of youngsters who are struggling is a cause close to my heart and one I am delighted to champion.
After graduating from York Uni with a BA (Hons) in English Literature, I spent six years working as a TV producer in London where I cut my teeth in sports journalism. In 2006, I moved to Australia for three-and-a-half years where I transitioned into the rapidly-evolving world of online news production. Shivering back to the UK in 2009, I began to work in print media as a magazine editor, and more recently as a copywriter and marketing mentor for expanding SMEs. Having grown up on a nature reserve, my world came full circle in 2018 when I moved into an editorial role with a national conservation charity, which paved the way for my current role at JET.
My broad experience across the media spectrum has helped me enormously as I’ve embarked on my JET journey. I believe passionately in the power of storytelling, and know that creating relatable, warm, honest content is key to communicating the impact of our work and unlocking support and funding. As a charity, we couldn’t operate without our fantastic military and corporate partners, but also without public backing. Leading a small and very hard-working team of digital, PR and events professionals, our mission is to engage, inspire and inform, and to help strengthen our voice in the sector and generate vital funding to allow us to reach every young person who needs us.
