I have been a qualified teacher since 2002 having previously spent 15 years in the Royal Air Force as an aircraft engineer on various military aircraft. I embarked upon a radical career change and retrained in order to be able to make a positive difference to young people. I am passionate in my endeavours to do this.  In 2008 I became Assistant Head Teacher at an Academy in Lincoln, classed as an area of high social deprivation. Constantly on the look out for exciting challenges that make a difference, I was approached by the Jon Egging Trust and the first Blue Skies programme was born.  I strongly believe in the vision and values of the Trust and having been a member of the military, I have first-hand experience of the importance the skills and attributes developed by the Blue Skies programme, can have on nurturing well rounded citizens with skills for life.

In my role as the chair of the Trust’s educational committee, I seek to collaborate with partner schools and organisations to find innovative solutions to creating cutting edge youth engagement programmes, thus exploiting the best opportunities available for our young people.

Having seen the positive difference made, I am immensely proud and honoured to be able to use my wide ranging knowledge and expertise in the educational sector to the benefit of young people across the country.
