The Jon Egging Trust is a charity I feel a close affinity with, as I often meet people who don’t have the confidence to reach their full potential, or have had mental health issues. This, my belief in the transformational impact of the charity’s programmes and, of course, meeting Emma, has led me to the Jon Egging Trust.
I’m a Non-Executive director of a couple of consumer-led businesses, as well as working as an executive coach/mentor, helping CEOs and Founders to be the best they can be.
I’ve held senior roles in the corporate world for over 30 years in large corporates, private equity backed and smaller, privately owned businesses. I started out my working life training to be an accountant, inspired by a boss of mine at the time. Ultimately this phase of my business life reached its conclusion when I became CEO of a marketing services business, which we floated on AIM enabling me to move to a part-time portfolio career.
This means I can follow my other passions alongside my work; I love anything outdoorsy (skiing, climbing, playing tennis), and I have a real zest for travel. It also enables me to care for my two young step-children half of the time. I continue to enjoy developing and learning new skills (the latest being qualifying as a yoga instructor), whilst also supporting others to do the same.
The journey that the charity has been on, and its leadership team is very inspiring. By bringing both my business and people skills to my trustees’ role, I hope to help the Jon Egging Trust to continue to flourish over the next few years.
